Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH)
At ELI, we recognize that access to clean water, proper sanitation, and good hygiene practices are fundamental human rights and essential for the health and well-being of communities. Our Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH) program is dedicated to addressing the critical challenges faced by marginalized communities in Tanzania, particularly women, girls, and children, who are disproportionately affected by inadequate WASH facilities.
Program Objectives:
1. Access to Clean Water: We aim to provide sustainable access to safe and clean drinking water through the construction and rehabilitation of water sources, such as boreholes and wells, ensuring that communities have reliable water supply.
2. Improved Sanitation Facilities: Our program focuses on building and promoting the use of hygienic sanitation facilities, including latrines and handwashing stations, to reduce the spread of waterborne diseases and improve overall community health.
3. Hygiene Education: Education is at the heart of our WASH program. We conduct training sessions and workshops to raise awareness about the importance of hygiene practices, such as handwashing with soap, menstrual hygiene management, and safe water handling.
4. Community Engagement: We believe in the power of community involvement. Our approach includes engaging local leaders and community members in the planning and implementation of WASH initiatives, ensuring that solutions are culturally appropriate and sustainable.
5. Monitoring and Sustainability: To ensure the long-term success of our WASH initiatives, we establish monitoring systems to track water quality and sanitation practices. We also work with communities to develop maintenance plans for water facilities, empowering them to take ownership of their resources.
Impact:
Through our WASH program, we aim to improve the health and quality of life for vulnerable populations, reduce the incidence of waterborne diseases, and empower communities to adopt sustainable hygiene practices. By investing in WASH, we are not only enhancing health outcomes but also fostering dignity, gender equality, and economic development within the communities we serve.
Join us in our mission to ensure that every individual has access to clean water, safe sanitation, and the knowledge to maintain proper hygiene. Together, we can create healthier, more resilient communities.
Access To Justice
The program focuses on ensuring that all individuals, particularly those from vulnerable communities, have access to justice. Our Access to Justice Program focuses on raising awareness of the negative impacts of harmful traditional practices such as female genital mutilation (FGM), child marriage, early pregnancy, and the denial of land ownership rights to women.
We recognize that these practices disproportionately affect marginalized groups, perpetuating cycles of poverty and inequality. Through education, advocacy, and community engagement, we strive to empower individuals with the knowledge and resources needed to challenge these injustices.
We firmly believe that everyone deserves access to justice, regardless of their socioeconomic status or gender. Our program aims to foster a more equitable society where all individuals can live free from discrimination and violence, ensuring their rights are protected and upheld.Women's Economic Empowerment(Livelihood)
ProgramsThe program provides women with the skills, knowledge, and resources necessary to start and sustain their own businesses, thereby improving their financial independence and economic prospects. Through training workshops, access to capital, and mentorship programs, the organization seeks to support
women in becoming self-reliant entrepreneurs and leaders in their communities. By challenging systemic barriers to women's economic participation, such as
gender-based discrimination and limited access to credit and markets, the organization hopes to create a more equitable and inclusive economy where women can thriveImpactful Stories
